SUMMARY:Powerful Tools for Caregivers: Adults with Chronic Illness
DESCRIPTION:JFCS will host a six-week class\, “Powerful Tools for Caregivers.” If you have picked up a prescription\, brought over dinner\, given a ride to the doctor\, taken care of an errand or made decisions big or small on behalf of a senior\, you are a caregiver.  The class is designed to provide you with a wealth of self-care tools that will help you take care of yourself while taking care of others. You will learn to reduce stress\, improve your self-confidence\, bring more balance to your life\, better communicate your feelings\, and increase your ability to make tough decisions. The class is open to people from the Jewish and broader community. \nMondays\, July 13 – Aug. 17  from 10 – 11:30 a.m. \nThis class will meet in person at the Lenox Community Center\n6715 Minnetonka Blvd\, St Louis Park\, MN 55426 \nFacilitated by Tabitha Benci DeRango and Jennifer Koontz \nThere is a $15 charge to participate. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay. Limited to 10 participants.

Always. \nAbout the Group\nLed by an experienced professional facilitator\, each session will foster open dialogue\, personal reflection\, and supportive discussion. The group embraces harm reduction principles and is designed to empower participants through shared experiences\, education\, and personal growth. This group is about caring for the caregiver. Whether you are providing care at home\, from afar\, exploring additional support services\, or considering future care options\, you are welcome here. DESCRIPTION:Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Produce Distribution Groups \nWhat: JFCS is teaming up with PRISM for another Volunteers in Action event to help local families access nutritious food while supporting a program rooted in dignity\, connection\, and empowerment. \nPRISM’s Fresh Produce Distribution provides fresh\, healthy produce to more than 200 families in the community. The event takes place in an indoor\, farmer’s market-style setting where community members can select fresh fruits and vegetables in a welcoming environment. The distribution is open to everyone in the community\, with no zip code\, residency\, or income requirements. \nAs a group\, we will support all aspects of the event\, from set-up through cleanup\, while helping create a welcoming experience for participants. \nVolunteers may assist with: \n\nSetting up the indoor distribution space before the event and helping with cleanup afterward\nDistributing fresh produce and helping ensure each family receives a fair share\nMoving and transporting produce boxes throughout the event\nAssisting participants with carrying groceries to their vehicles\, unloading produce\, and returning carts\nWorking collaboratively with PRISM staff and other volunteers to support a smooth event\nProviding language support\, if able\, in Spanish\, Russian\, Ukrainian\, or Somali\n\nAge Requirement\nVolunteers must be age 16 or older to participate without supervision. DESCRIPTION:If you or a loved one is impacted by addiction\, you are invited to join our new eight-week support group at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minnesota (JFCS). Rooted in Jewish values—reflection without shame\, dignity for every person\, care for the body\, connection in community\, forgiveness\, and hope—this group provides a safe\, supportive\, and compassionate space for healing\, learning\, and connection. All are welcome\, regardless of religious background or identity. JFCS is here for all. Always. \nAbout the Group\nLed by an experienced professional facilitator\, each session will foster open dialogue\, personal reflection\, and supportive discussion. The group embraces harm reduction principles and is designed to empower participants through shared experiences\, education\, and personal growth. Whether you are navigating addiction yourself or supporting someone who is\, you’ll find a welcoming community here. This is an open group and drop-ins are welcome. Meeting virtually allows you to join from the comfort and privacy of your own space. This group is about caring for the caregiver. Whether you are providing care at home\, from afar\, exploring additional support services\, or considering future care options\, you are welcome here.
