DESCRIPTION:If you or a loved one is impacted by addiction\, you are invited to join our new six-week support group at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS). Rooted in Jewish values—reflection without shame\, dignity for every person\, care for the body\, connection in community\, forgiveness\, and hope—this group provides a safe\, supportive\, and compassionate space for healing\, learning\, and connection. All are welcome\, regardless of religious background or identity. JFCS is here for all. Always. \nAbout the Group\nLed by an experienced professional facilitator\, each session will foster open dialogue\, personal reflection\, and supportive discussion. The group embraces harm reduction principles and is designed to empower participants through shared experiences\, education\, and personal growth. Whether you are navigating addiction yourself or supporting someone who is\, you’ll find a welcoming community here. \nWhen: Wednesdays\, 6:30–8 p.m.\n· First session: November 5\n· No session: November 26 – Thanksgiving week\n· Final session: December 17 \nWhere: JFCS – 5905 Golden Valley Road\, Golden Valley\, MN \nWho: Adults impacted by addiction of any kind—personally or through a loved one or family member \nCost: Free of charge. DESCRIPTION:JFCS will host a three-part Addiction and Recovery Summer Series designed for parents\, caregivers\, and community members who want to better understand and respond to real-life addiction and recovery topics. These expert-led sessions will tackle tough topics head-on\, providing practical guidance\, up-to-date information\, life-saving skills\, and realistic strategies for discussion and support of loved-ones. Each session will address a single topic; participants can choose to attend one session\, or all three. The suggested cost is $10/session with a sliding scale available. We do not want payment to be a barrier to attend. \n\nJuly 16\, Aug. 27 and Sept. 10\n6-7:30 p.m.\nRegistration is required below\, and location information will be shared after registration. \n\n\n  \nSession Descriptions\n\n\nGambling: The Hidden Risk on July 16 – Examine how online games\, sports betting\, and apps are exposing many vulnerable populations\, including teens and young adults. Warning signs of problem behaviors will be discussed and we will explore strategies for managing this challenge and supporting loved ones. There is a virtual option for this event! Presenter: Kevin Spading\, Associate Professor of Human Services at Metro State University\n  \n\n\nOpioid Overdose Response Training on Aug. 27 – Learn how to identify and respond to an opioid overdose and walk away feeling confident in your ability to carry Naloxone and save a life. Open to adults and teens. Presenter: Jennifer Fukuda\, JFCS\n\n  \n\nRaising Awareness\, Reducing Harm: Understanding Today’s Drug Trends on Sept. 10– Explore emerging drug trends\, learn ways to identify commonly used drugs and their impact\, and discuss what your kids are being exposed to at school and online. It will also include Q&A\, so come with your questions ready. Presenter: Justin McNeal of Begin Anew Recovery.\n\n\n\n\nThe Addiction and Recovery Summer Series is part of JFCS’ Education and Learning Speaker Series.
