SUMMARY:Volunteers in Action: Donate Blood with JFCS to Help Save Lives
DESCRIPTION:Mon. August 11 – Sun. August 17\, 2025\nMemorial Blood Centers – various locations throughout the Twin Cities \nWhat: JFCS is partnering with MBCs to give hope to hospital patients in our community through a weeklong blood drive. Sign up and you can be a lifesaver in our community! \nWhere: You get to choose whichever MBC donor center is most convenient for you \nWhy: Blood donors are needed to help patients receive their treatment and MBC can really use our help to replenish the blood supply. \nDid you know… \n\nEvery 2 seconds\, someone in the US needs blood\nOne donation can save up to 3 lives\nLess than 10% of the eligible US population (38%) donates annually\nA single car accident victim may need 100+ units of blood\nType O-negative is the universal donor so it can be given to anyone in emergencies\nCancer patients use nearly one-quarter of the nation’s blood supply\nThe #1 reason people haven’t given blood is that no one ever asked them\n\nSo\, we are asking you now – will you join us in this mitzvah (good deed) to give hope to others? Whether you’re a regular or a first-time donor\, we hope you will sign up for an appointment and spread the word to others in your network who may be interested. \n>Register here for an appointment. Be sure to put the code ‘JFCS’ in the appointment notes portion and tell them when you arrive for your appointment that you with JFCS\, so your donation counts towards our group total. \n Questions on blood donor eligibility? Click here to learn more. If you’re eligible\, please consider donating and giving hope to those in need. \n____________________________________________________________________________________ \nThis event is part of Volunteers in Actions\, a JFCS volunteer corps that supports organizations in the Jewish and broader communities. The program partners with organizations whose missions align with JFCS’ mission to provide essential services to people of all ages and backgrounds to sustain healthy relationships\, ease suffering and offer support in times of need. \nQuestions or ideas for an upcoming Volunteers in Action event?
