SUMMARY:Pizza\, Community & Giving Back: Jewish Grandparent Community & Hag Sameach Service Project
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, Sept. 16 at 6 – 8 p.m. \nJewish Family and Children’s Service of Minnesota\, Golden Valley  \nCalling all Jewish Grandparents!  Join us for an evening of pizza\, community\, and tikkum olam (repairing the world) to support JFCS’s Hag Sameach (Happy Holidays) program.  \nThis service project is for all Jewish grandparents\, no matter the age or location of your grandchildren. If you have grandchildren ages 10 and above\, you are welcome to bring them along for an intergenerational experience! Come on your own\, with another grandparent\, and/or with an older grandchild. Grandchildren optional!   \nTogether\, we will assemble toiletry kits for local families who need extra support during the holiday season. Hag Sameach provides holiday gifts and essential items to community members in need—during the holidays and throughout the year. Participants will have the chance to tour the warehouse and see the program in action. Last year\, Hag Sameach served more than 800 individuals\, and this year we anticipate serving even more!     \nPlease RSVP at this link \nWhat to Expect  \n🍕 Enjoy pizza and connect with other Jewish Grandparents Community members (JGC) who are grandparenting locally and from afar. Join us for an informative and practical introduction to infant and child CPR\, choking prevention\, and emergency response. \nThis session is designed for grandparents who are new to CPR\, as well as those who would like a refresher on current recommendations and best practices. Participants will learn how to recognize choking emergencies\, understand the basics of responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children\, and gain confidence in knowing what to do until professional help arrives. \nPlease note: This is an educational overview and refresher session. It is not a certification course\, and participants will not receive CPR certification. \nIn addition to learning together\, we’ll enjoy time connecting with fellow grandparents\, sharing experiences\, building community\, and enjoying a sweet treat together.
