Creating the World’s First Braille Megillah
Queermunity
Nov. 4 | 6-8 p.m.
With a grant from Rimon: Jewish Arts Council, a local sofer (scribe), Yonathan Reches, is in the process of creating the world’s first kosher, blind-accessible megillah (scroll of Esther).
Join J-Pride for our November Coffee Social at Queermunity as we help co-create this object while learning about the process. Participants will place Braille dots in the megillah and will learn some of the nuanced halakhot (laws) that must be balanced with accessibility to create truly kosher, inclusive ritual objects.
