From the Desk of CEO Amy Weiss: June 2026
The summer solstice is right around the corner. While I love these long, sun-filled days, I always feel a touch of sadness knowing that little by little, the daylight will begin to fade. Rather than rushing the season, though, I find myself appreciating all the ways our community continues to grow, connect and support one another throughout the year.
One of the joys of summer is camp season. While I wasn’t a summer camp kid myself, I am the proud parent of two camp kids, and I have seen firsthand the incredible impact those experiences can have. From day camps to overnight camps, they have built lasting friendships, discovered new interests, strengthened their Jewish identities, and gained confidence and independence. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, JFCS of Minnesota helped send 158 children to camp this summer, opening doors to meaningful experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.

Helping people find connection and belonging is at the heart of what we do. This year, we are especially excited and proud to celebrate 20 years of J-Pride at the Twin Cities Pride Festival. Throughout the month, we are gathering, celebrating, and creating space for LGBTQ+ Jews, their families, and allies to come together. Click here to join us in celebrating Pride.
Connection takes many forms, and we are fortunate to offer opportunities for people of all ages and stages of life. Recently, we hosted Mindful Movement: Baby Yoga & Massage, the first event in a new family parenting series. PJ Library, in partnership with Minnesota Mammelahs, is bringing families together through the Shabbat in the Park series across the Twin Cities. And throughout the summer, our Dementia, Caregiver, Grief, and Addiction Recovery support groups continue to provide community and connection.
You can also find connection through volunteering with JFCS of Minnesota. Whether you are helping at Pride, welcoming visitors at our St. Paul office, or serving as an Outreach Visitor for an older adult seeking companionship, volunteers help us serve the community while building meaningful relationships of their own.
As the seasons change, one thing remains constant: JFCS of Minnesota is here for you. If you or someone you know could benefit from a program, service or simply a connection to community, we encourage you to reach out. With boundless compassion and a deep commitment to caring for one another, we are Here for all. Always.
