From the Desk of CEO Amy Weiss: May 2026

May is a busy time for celebrating graduations, weddings, and Mother’s Day. It is also Older Americans Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, meaningful reminders of how important connection and community are in all of our lives. Whether it is sharing the story of mental health to help combat stigma or helping people find resources, connection has the power to strengthen healthy relationships and offer support in times of need.

Older Americans Month is a time to recognize the contributions of older adults in our community and reaffirm our commitment to supporting their health and well-being. JFCS of Minnesota is proud to celebrate our older adults this month and throughout the year. A core component of our work is helping seniors maintain their independence and supporting caregivers. Staying socially connected and building community can help people maintain their health and independence as they age, while bringing comfort, dignity, and joy along the way.

Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that mental health is connected to every part of our lives – from our relationships, housing, and work to creating a sense of community. Across all of our programs, JFCS of Minnesota helps people build connection, find support, and navigate life’s challenges with boundless compassion. From Counseling and Addiction Recovery Services to Senior Services, PJ Library, and J-Pride, we are honored to walk alongside individuals and families at every stage of life.

To learn more about JFCS of Minnesota, I invite you to attend our 116th Annual Meeting on June 10. We will share an organizational update, welcome new Board Members, honor staff celebrating milestone anniversaries, and celebrate the many ways we come together to strengthen our community connections.

One connection at a time, JFCS is Here for All. Always.
