Success of Hag Sameach Passover program shows power of cohesive community
By Mindy Teele • JFCS Engagement Coordinator
Passover reminds us of the power of community, and through the JFCS Hag Sameach program, we see that power come to life in meaningful ways across the Twin Cities.
It begins with our referral partners, who thoughtfully identify individuals and families who could benefit from additional support and take the time to connect them to this program. It continues with our donors, whose generosity ensures we are not limited in how many people we can serve, and instead allows us to expand our reach and support all who may benefit.

We see it in our volunteers, who dedicate their time to assembling and delivering Passover bags. These moments go far beyond the delivery itself; they create connection. Whether it’s a brief doorstep exchange or a longer visit, the time shared is as meaningful as the items received. And we see it in our community partners, whose handmade contributions, such as Passover cards and afikomen bags, add warmth and care to each delivery.
Each year, the Hag Sameach program continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our community. This year marked a significant milestone: our first-ever Twin Cities-wide Passover delivery program. With nearly 400 customized referrals, this achievement reflects the strength of two communities coming together through compassion, generosity, and shared purpose.
I am deeply grateful to be part of the Twin Cities Jewish community and the incredible network that makes this program possible through Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minnesota.
